How Does a Hollywood Smile Procedure Work?

“Hollywood Smile” is a broad name for a cosmetic smile makeover. The procedure is not the same for every patient. An examination should come before a decision about materials, the number of teeth or the amount of tooth preparation.

Assessment comes first

The treating dentist reviews your concerns, teeth, gums, bite, existing restorations and medical history. Imaging or other investigations may be needed. Existing disease and functional problems must be considered before a cosmetic plan is agreed.

Which treatments might be discussed?

• Whitening: an option to discuss when the main concern is the colour of natural teeth.
• Bonding: tooth-coloured material may be considered for selected changes to appearance.
• Veneers: restorations that cover the front surface of teeth.
• Crowns: a different restoration covering more of a tooth, used when appropriate for its condition.
• Other care: orthodontic, gum or restorative treatment may be discussed where needed.

Not every patient needs all these treatments. Ask what is proposed for each tooth and why. If missing teeth are part of the concern, discuss tooth-replacement options separately, including whether dental implants are suitable.

Material names do not describe the whole treatment

Ask for the proposed restoration and material to be named clearly. Terms such as porcelain, composite, zirconia and laminate can be used differently in marketing. The dentist should explain what will be fitted, how it is supported and bonded, and how it will be maintained.

Typical planning and appointment stages

1. Consultation and options: discuss your goals, findings, alternatives and the written plan.
2. Design discussion: review shape and shade and ask what a preview or mock-up can and cannot demonstrate.
3. Preparation, if indicated: the dentist explains the proposed work and its implications before proceeding.
4. Fabrication and fitting: laboratory stages and temporary restorations depend on the chosen treatment.
5. Final review: check appearance, fit and bite and agree maintenance and follow-up.

How long should you stay in Turkey?

Risks and informed decisions

Ask about preparation, sensitivity, maintenance, repair and possible future replacement. Enamel removal is irreversible. The treating dentist should explain the risks and alternatives relevant to your situation and answer your questions before you decide.

Aftercare and continuing support

Follow the instructions given for your treatment and arrange the recommended dental reviews. Ask who to contact for adjustments or a problem after returning home and keep a copy of your plan and treatment records.
